Autumn Term 2008
A two day workshop with Jean White
‘Contemporary Psychoanalytic Developments of Winnicott’s Concepts’
Saturday 4th October and Saturday 1st November 2008
Time: 10.30am-12.30pm & 1.00pm – 3.00pm (half hour lunch break; refreshment provided)
Venue: to be agreed Cost: £185.00

Jean White is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist in private practice in London. Since 1986, she has consulted to many public sector organizations and lectured for a range of psychoanalytic psychotherapy trainings, both nationally and internationally. She is a member of the Guild of Psychotherapists and the Forum for Independent Psychotherapists. She is the author of the acclaimed book: “Generation: Preoccupations and Conflicts in Contemporary Psychoanalysis”.

In the two day workshops we will trace the way that some of Winnicott’s seminal concepts have been developed and elaborated in more recent Independent thought. They have enabled new theories of intersubjectivity, for example, as well as multiple forms of object usage and aesthetic or ecstatic engagements, and contributed to a total revision of the analytic relationship. The theorists whose work we will primarily focus on are: Jessica Benjamin and Thomas Ogden (in the USA); Marion Milner, Masud Khan and Christopher Bollas (in Britain); and Andre Green and Joyce McDougall (in France).
